Summary: Great product but don't recommend the Lemon Lime
Comment: I adore Coromega. It's easy to take and, though it's hard to prove, I honestly feel like my mental health has improved since I've been taking it. I recommend against the lemon lime flavor, though. It is just SO strong that it becomes cringeworthy. The orange flavor is fine and I'm trying the chocolate orange next.

Summary: Omega-3 without the fish oil burps!
Comment: A couple of years ago my optometrist advised that I take fish oil capsules on a daily basis to help ward off macular degeneration. For those who don't know, this is a condition that occurs when the macula (the area at the back of the retina that produces the sharpest vision) weakens over time.

There are many other benefits to fish oil, including being useful in the treatment of a number of forms of depression, and many physicians recommend it for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. But the problem for many is that they find the capsules to be intolerable for one reason: fish oil burps.

The Coromega Omega-3 Fish Oil, Lemon Lime seems to eliminate that problem for most. It's packaged in convenient daily dose pudding-like squeeze packets. I personally like the taste, but if one doesn't, they can easily be mixed with blended drinks or added to yogurt. These Coromega products contain top quality fish oil from deep, cold-water fish, which is said to be the best kind.

It should also be noted that low levels of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) have been connected to various forms of depression, ADD (attention deficit disorder) and Alzheimer's disease. Various studies have revealed that brains of Alzheimer's patients have 30 percent less DHA than brains of comparably aged people who do not have the disease.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common cause of blindness among older adults in the US, and is said to affect over 7 million individuals older than 40 years. The frequency of AMD is likely to increase as the population ages. There is currently no known way to prevent the condition, but research has begun to identify potentially modifiable risk factors and nutrient-based treatments. More info on this can be found here:

In any case, if your health care practitioner has suggested fish oil as a treatment, this product is a tasty alternative to the capsules. It can also be found in other flavors, such as Coromega Omega-3 Supplement, Orange Flavor, Squeeze Packets, 90-Count Box and Coromega Omega-3 Supplement, Orange Flavor with a Hint of Chocolate, 90 packets.

If you wish to read up a bit on the benefits of the fish oil supplements, you can try DHA: The Essential Omega-3 Fatty Acid by Remi Cooper, who explains it clearly in a 32-page booklet.

There are "good" and "bad" fats, and Omega-3 fatty acids are considered one of the "good" fats important for cellular, heart and metabolic health, along with being good for the eyes. DHA is one of those fatty acids that help maintain a healthy heart and circulatory system, along with maintaining triglyceride levels already within a normal range.

So yes, for many of us there are healthy and tasty alternatives to the fish oil capsules... without the fish oil burps.

Summary: My favorite Coromega product
Comment: I've tried all 3 flavors of Coromega and this is my favorite. I don't experience any burps with any of the products although my great nephew does so who knows what's behind that.
As with all Omega 3 products, the anti-inflamation benefits of Coromega build up in the system. My arthritis and angina have both been positively affected by Omega 3 fatty acids. This is just the most convenient way for me to get my daily dose.

Summary: Like the orange flavor better
Comment: We have been using the Coromega orange flavor packets for a few years so I thought we would try out the lemon-lime. The lemon-lime tastes fine, but causes lemon-lime burps. We have not had this problem with the orange. It also comes in orange-chocolate which sounds gross, but we may have to try it. As far as price, the Coromega website offers this product for $39.95 plus shipping and my local food co-op sells it for $31.95 so Amazon wins hands down for pricing. Overall, an easy way to get your daily dose of Omega 3 oils.
