The Keeper is a great alternative to tampons. This soft, natural gum rubber cup collects the flow rather than absorbing it, so the vaginal tissues aren't dried out as they can be by tampons. The Keeper holds up to an ounce of fluid and should be emptied several times a day; simply rinse and reinsert. Detailed instructions come with your order. Not recommended for those with latex allergies. The Keeper should last for 10 years so it's a great value. UPC: 788832000190

Customer Rating: Summary: Hard to use & not worth it Comment: I ordered this after months of consideration, and I shouldn't have wasted my money or time. It is NOT easy to insert or take out, not even with time--I used for two cycles and it was still painful and uncomfortable to put in and take out (even using the Before Childbirth size). The cup was somewhat difficult to bend and put in, and hurt. Taking it out was even worse--the instructions say to pinch the cup to get it out, but that allows everything to spill out, and it hurt on its way out.
Even though it is environmentally conscious and cheaper than pads and tampons over time, I would not recommend this item at all.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Moon Cup will change your life! Comment: Several of my girlfriends and I have Moon Cups, and as one friend says, "It changed my life!" This cup is so much better for your body and the environment than standard tampons, which can dry out the vaginal canal, lead to Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), and create tons of unnecessary garbage.
The Moon Cup is made of surgical-grade silicone and is latex-free; this makes it pliable and soft, but firm enough that it forms an air-tight seal after insertion. It holds up to 1 fluid ounce and can simply be emptied, wiped/rinsed off (if necessary), and reinserted. The pull tab at the base of the cup (it looks like an open tube but is closed off) can be trimmed according to your preference. There's virtually zero risk of TSS, as the cup "catches" your flow instead of absorbing it.
The cup is a little weird to insert/remove at first, but no weirder than when you first used a tampon. I've been using the Moon Cup for over a year and have been thrilled with it! I have never had any leakage problems, although from years of "standard" menstrual products I'm still slightly leak-paranoid and wear a liner just in case. It's easy to clean, too: just wash it with hot soapy water or even a tea tree oil solution. It comes in a palm-sized cotton cinch-pouch, so you can take it out of your purse without fear of your coworkers/family knowing what it is.
I wish I had known about the Moon Cup in my teens! I could have saved a lot of money and prevented a lot of environmental waste. For more information, go to www.gladrags. com. HIGHLY recommended for those who care about their bodies and the environment!
Customer Rating: Summary: Brilliant invention! Comment: This is a healthy, clean, environmentally sound solution. It's a bit weird to use at first, but it's comfortable and easy to insert (although not so easy to remove, for me anyway). Sometimes it does leak a tiny bit, but no more than a tampon. No cancer-causing dioxins to worry about (as in tampons and pads), no odor problems at all. Great for exercise, very convenient--a brilliant invention!
